Transportation

If you are going to be staying at a hotel in Portland we do not recommend renting a car. Parking at the hotels is expensive. Parking in downtown, where the wedding venue is, will be a pain. Unless you plan on going outside of the city center you will most likely not need a car.

Getting to and from the Airport

The MAX Red Line goes to and from the airport regularly. It should take about 30 minutes to get from the airport to downtown once you are on the train. A 2 hour pass on the MAX will cost $2.50 per person, and that allows you to transfer to any MAX line, bus line, or Street Car line. If you want more than a 2 hour pass, an all day pass is available for $5 per person.

Getting around Portland

Walk – You’ve got two legs, how about you finally put them to good use?

Bike – Check out our Things to Do in PDX page, we probably listed a bike rental shop there.

Bus/Lightrail – It will get you most places you need to go and is relatively clean.

Taxi – Taxi’s are pretty awful in Portland. Good luck. (503) 227-1212 (Radio Cab) or Curb.

Uber/Lyft – Uber and Lyft might be available in the city, they might not be. Steve Novick and the Portland City Council are idiots.

Hotels

Book your hotels early. The prices will keep going up as the date draws near. You must ask for the Fox O’Brien Wedding block rates in order to get the block rates.

Here are a few of the recommended places to stay while visiting Portland. All six of these places are easy to get to and from both the airport and venue via the MAX light rail, although keep in mind that the MAX shuts down at around 11:00pm, so the closer the hotel is to the venue the better.

If you are traveling with a large group of people, or you want to look into something else, VRBO and AirBnB should both have plenty of nice options. Keep in mind you may have to arrange transportation to and from the venue.
